About Bel Koz Haiti
Hello friends! I am so glad you are here. Let me start by introducing myself. I am Amy, founder + owner of Bel Koz (meaning “Beautiful Cause” in Haitian Creole).
My love for Haiti began with a mission trip to Calebasse in 1999. After just one week in Haiti at the age of 15, I was hooked for life. Since then, I travel to Haiti every chance I get. For a few summers, I was involved with a camp for 400+ kids! I will never forget the days of Kan d’ete Rev Zoranj! After the 2010 earthquake, my husband and I helped build houses. And for many years, I would help with teacher workshops in various areas of Haiti. My time in Haiti has shown me a deeper love and respect for Haiti and its people. God placed the desire on my heart to do something here that would allow me to be a part of a greater cause.
At Bel Koz, my mission is to empower Haitian families. I do this by coming alongside artisans, children recovering from malnutrition, pregnant mamas, and school children. I have see firsthand the power we have as consumers and the impact your purchases are making in the lives you are investing in. Together we are helping provide hope to families throughout Haiti.
Bel Koz partners with artisans in Haiti to bring you quality handmade goods! These artisans’ lives are being transformed through the opportunity of a job. Often times in Haiti, mothers and fathers are forced to relinquish their children to an orphanage simply because they do not have the means to provide for them. For the artisans, this job opportunity is life changing is helping prevent poverty orphans. These artisans are paid 3x higher than fair trade standards. Bel Koz serves as an outlet for these talented artisans. I love being able to collaborate with them and bring you their beautiful pieces!
