Hand crafted from a recycled 55 gallon oil drum + leather cord. Talented artisans in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti use steel drums to create unique pieces of art.
The drum is first set on fire using dried banana or sugar cane leaves to remove paint + any oil residue. The artisans then remove the round top + bottom then cut down the length of the round drum. Then they flatten the drum preparing it to be used as their 'canvas' for a truly one of a kind piece. Using only a hammer and a few small tools the artisans chisels out strips of steel then rolls them into these barrel beads!
- Oil drum beads
- Leather cord
